PNG7000 Series
Precision Noise Generator B

The PNG7000A Series instruments generate white Gaussian noise and provide a summing input to control signal-to-noise (SNR) or carrier-to-noise (CNR) for bit-error-ratio (BER) testing. The output can also be used as a source for Jitter applications. A key feature of this instrument is its low distortion signal path that sums the user-supplied signal with the internal precision white noise source. Standard units can be modified for specific customer requirements. Please consult the factory for pricing and availability of these requests.

  • Type N, BNC, or SMA connectors available
  • 127 dB attenuation in 1 dB, or optional 0.1 dB steps*
  • Summing input for CNR, or Eb/No measurements
  • 0 dB signal path insertion loss
  • +/- 0.25 dB per 40 MHz noise band smoothing
  • SP6T switch allows four internal/external filter paths
  • Standard Ethernet, or optional GPIB remote control
  • Optional rear panel connectors

* Units above 2 GHz have 79.9 dB attenuation

UFX7000 Series
Programmable Multi-Purpose Noise Generator

The UFX7000A Series instruments provide Broadband Gaussian noise with superior flatness. The output power can be attenuated up to 127 dB in 1 dB steps, and several connector types are available. In standby mode, the output RF switch is terminated into a 50-ohm load, while in the "on" state it is directed to the output connector. The UFX7000A Series flexible architecture allows several options, including an internal combiner, 0.1 dB attenuation steps, and internal switches for up to 4 filter paths. Standard units can be modified for specific customer requirements. Please consult the factory for pricing and availability of these requests.

  • Type N, BNC, or SMA connectors available
  • 127 dB attenuation in 1 dB, or optional 0.1 dB steps*
  • Optional signal path attenuators
  • SP6T switch allows four internal/external filter paths
  • Band pass, low pass, high pass, or notch filters **
  • Standard Ethernet, or optional GPIB remote control
  • Optional rear panel connectors

* Units above 2 GHz have 79.9 dB attenuation
** Consult factory for all filter options

J7000 Series
Programmable Multi-Purpose Noise Generator

The J7000A Series instruments high crest factor output is used as a random jitter source for serial data bus applications, including PCI Express Gen I & II, Serial ATA, and Fiber Channel. The noise source is designed for the PCI-SIG total jitter (Tj) model serial data application, but can be used for any random jitter noise application. The random nature of this output is designed to model real world electrical noise commonly found in digital electrical circuits. The summing input can control signal-to-noise (SNR) or carrier-to-noise (CNR) for bit-error-ratio (BER) testing similar to other Noisecom instruments. The signal path has a nominal insertion gain of 0 dB, with very low amplitude and phase ripple. Standard units can be modified for specific customer requirements. Please consult the factory for pricing and availability of these requests.

  • Serial Data sources and specialized filters **
  • Provides > 18 dB crest factor
  • 127 dB attenuation in 1 dB, or optional 0.1 dB steps*
  • Summing input for CNR, or Eb/No measurements
  • Standard Ethernet, or optional GPIB remote control
  • Optional rear panel connectors

* Units above 2 GHz have 79.9 dB attenuation

UFX - EbNo Series
Precision Eb / No (C / N) Generators

Multiple Operating Modes
The UFX-EbNo provides five operating modes: carrier-to-noise (C/N), carrier-to-noise density (C/No), bit energy-to-noise density (Eb/No), carrier-to-interferer (C/I), and power meter. The instrument can also be used as a precision noise generator.

Custom configurations
The UFX-EbNo is available in a variety of configurations to meet your specific testing needs. Applications include: military communications, WCDMA, SATCOM, NASA TDRSS, Cable-TV, HDTV, IS-95, CDMA, TDMA, UMTS, GPRS L-band modems, Milstar, Inmarsat, Intelsat, and general purpose.

Direct Display of Eb/No, C/N, C/I or C/No
The 4 x 20 VFD screen provides simultaneous readout of all significant input and output signal levels relating to the chosen mode including carrier-to-noise ratios.

Accuracy of 0.2 dB RSS

A special, large-dynamic-range power meter measures both the Signal and the noise, which allows the UFX-EbNo to set the desired ration to within ±0.2 dB. Special configurations can provide improved accuracy.

Bit Rate Entry of 1 bps to 999 Mbps and above
In bit energy-to-noise density testing (Eb/No), the instrument automatically calculates noise density based on the userspecified bit rate.

Variable output power
output power is user-specified and can be set within the range of -55 dBm to +5 dBm.

CNG-EbNo Analyzer

Precision S/N, C/N, C/No, C/I and Eb/No Measurements.

Noisecom has launched its new CNG-EbNo series of precisionsignal-to-noise generators. These analyzers are designed for Carrier-to-Noise (C/N), Carrier-to-Noise density (C/No), Signal-to-Noise (S/N), Carrier-to-Interferer (C/I) and Bit Energy-to-Noise density (Eb/No) analysis. The instruments are used for satellite communications, cable TV, telecommunications, and many other critical applications that demand accuracy and repeatability in the analysis of data transmission systems.

Our new CNG-EbNo series succeed Noisecom’s well-known UFX-EbNo products. The CNG-EbNo is an essential instrument for applications requiring high data rates that have to be transmitted reliably under challenging circumstances, such as weak signals embedded within high adjacent noise levels.  The CNG-EbNo is a truly versatile instrument. It not only provides a variety of highly accurate noise ratios, it also serves as a true RMS power meter and can be utilized as a precision noise generator.

CNG-EbNo analyzers are available in a variety of off-the-shelf frequency bands. Noisecom also provides customized frequency bands. The analyzer is available in 50 or 75 ohms impedance versions. Signal input range is -55 dBm to +5dBm. During bit energy-to-noise density analysis, CNG-EbNo analyzers calculate noise density automatically based on user specified bit rates, which can range from 1 bps to 999Mbps. The new CNG-EbNo comes with a convenient touch screen display that allows easy setting of all measurement parameters.
